In recent decades, the popularity of pets in the United States, especially dogs, has grown exponentially. People marry later and have fewer friends, so they make up for fewer social connections by forging deep bonds with animals. But animal lovers don't feel welcome everywhere—some restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores don't allow pets.
City by city data wasn't available, but we thought we'd pull together a report using statewide data regarding pet ownership. We'll start with pet devotion, a measure of how committed owners are to their pets. The full report takes into account various factors, including how much individuals are willing to spend on their pets' medical care, whether owners would end a romantic relationship over the other person not liking their dog, and more. (It should be noted that this particular metric is for dogs only.)
