We don't have any content regarding food on this site, because city by city data on grocery stores and the products they carry was really difficult to come by. However, we did think it would be worthwhile to look up what states had the healthiest diets. And we found an interesting and comprehensive study.
Sadly, a list of the states with the highest share of organic food, most farmers markets, etc., was not readily available. But this comes pretty close, because if the diets are healthy, the food options probably are too.
The full study, which was done by Trace One, a software company that works with food brands, assigned a ranking to states based on "eating habits, food access, alcohol consumption, and the prevalance of diet-related health conditions." Their data is sourced from the CDC.

Utah probably takes first due to the prevalance of Mormons, who are notable for their avoidance of alcohol and caffeine but, less famously, also adhere to a healthy diet. The Mountain West and Northeast are well represented, with two more New England states (three out of six) appearing in the top ten.
Here are the least healthy states:
The least healthy states are even more homogeneous than the most healthy states. Most of them are in the South, which has a great deal of poverty as well as poor walkability, leading to a higher-than-national obesity rate. The first nine states are all in the South, with the first northern one being Indiana.
